Consulting-flavoured QA: risk, assurance, and enterprise platform testing.

These are our own practice questions for the kind of QA/SDET role this company hires for. They are not the company's real interview questions. Confirm the current process on the company's official careers page.

What they tend to probe

  • Test strategy and governance
  • Risk-based testing
  • Enterprise platform testing
  • Data validation
  • Stakeholder communication
  1. Question 1 · Strategy · Medium

How do you write a test strategy for an enterprise platform migration?

    Answer guide

Scope and risks, data migration validation, parallel run and reconciliation, performance and cut-over rehearsal, rollback plan, sign-off criteria, and who decides go or no-go.

  2. Question 2 · Data · Hard

How do you prove migrated data is complete and correct?

    Answer guide

Row counts, control totals, field-level sampling with rules, referential integrity checks, edge records, and a reconciliation report that a business owner signs.

  3. Question 3 · Governance · Medium

What metrics would you show a steering committee, and which would you avoid?

    Answer guide

Risk coverage, defects by severity and age, escaped defects, readiness for go-live. Avoid raw test case counts and bare pass percentages without context.

  4. Question 4 · Platform · Medium

How do you test a configuration-heavy enterprise system where most behaviour is set up, not coded?

    Answer guide

Test configuration as data, cover each business rule combination, check role and permission matrices, and verify after every config promotion between environments.

  5. Question 5 · Communication · Medium

A senior stakeholder wants to cut testing time to save the date. How do you respond?

    Answer guide

Offer a risk-ranked scope with what is dropped and what could happen, let them choose, and record the decision.

  6. Question 6 · Automation · Medium

Which tests would you automate for a system that gets a major vendor upgrade twice a year?

    Answer guide

A stable regression of core business flows and integrations, data-driven where rules vary, and a quick compatibility check of customisations after each upgrade.
